my fiance and I are thinking of of a theme for our wedding..

these are just "ideas", nothing concrete yet.

how can we merge our two cultures in the wedding, seeing as we want to please our families by bringing both cultures together, and my fiance and i would like that too.

We're Egyptian and Mexican.

any theme suggestions?? decorations???

THanks for your input.

  1. You might try by making a list of everything your cultures have in common. Please forgive me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing, based on what is common within each country, that you'll be needing to combine Muslim and Catholic traditions? If so, you could have an Imam and a Priest share duties during the ceremony.

You could also pick various foods from each culture for the reception, and as for the cake? Why not a modern cake with Egyptian decorations, like little ankhs up the side?

The most important thing is that the two of you are both happy with your wedding!

  2. I'd avoid any depiction of Mohammed.

  3. ADD ON: to Bartzbrau: I can't even express how much I resent ignorant responses like yours! Do Christians have depictions of Jesus at their weddings? Why must people be so rude and arrogant of other people's faiths... such hypocrites!

Egyptians and Mexicans are both very colorful people. How about taking a few of those colors and going from there?

Have it a fiesta themed and bring some gorgeous lanterns for ambiance. Definitely offer a buffet so guests can taste the different foods. If you can host it outside, then go for it! In big tents, colorful with lots of tulle and hanging round lanterns!

Look into your traditions and incorporate them into the wedding and decorations.

    Good luck :)
