I am having a heck of a time coming up with a theme for my 4 year olds birthday party. My son's favorite color is yellow so, I was thinking about having a yellow birthday party. Any ideas for items like foods, goodies or games? I plan on asking everyomne to wear a yellow shirt.

  1. Food wise,

    Banana Milkshakes,

    Cornish Ice Cream,

    Very creamy non spicy Korma,

    Orange Juice,

    Caramelised Peaches,

hope that gives you a few ideas ...

  2. What about Bob the builder characters. Some of them are yellow..  O r maybe Spongebob. You can go on line and search Yellow themed birthday parties and they might be able to give  you some other ideas.

  3. Have a yellow pinata to hit for his party, visit this website http://www.pinatas.com/Boys_Birthday_Pin... for more yellow party ideas

  4. maybe corn on the cob cut into kid-sized portions. Or corn fritters (thick pancakes with corn kernels in them). and banana custard for dessert!

  5. Banana splits for dessert... you can make mini ones for kids that aren't so huge, just use part of the banana.

Buy yellow baseball caps and yellow ziploc bags for each guest.  Fill the bags with candy for favors and put them in the hat at each place, then put out washable markers (or Sharpies if you're brave!)  Let guests doodle on their hats and take them home.  Makes fun pictures and memories!

How much money do you have at your discretion for the event?  You could see if you could get a yellow clown...

  6. u can put up yellow banners and have banana ice cream, maybe lemon cheesecake for the adults, (not too sure how lemon will go down wid kids), have a cake wid the tellytubbies sun baby / lala on it, cubes of cheese, yellow balloons, you cld hav pics of him around the room that have a yellow tinge/glaze over them. hope i helpd!

  7. awww bless ermm you could use one of the teletubblies the yellow one i think its called lala and you could buy blow up bananas lol and big yellow cusiony bean bags i dno lol you could get a fire man game they be yellow dont they?and perhaps lemon food and yellow icings!! hope that helped!! xx

  8. I think it's great that you're doing that for him!

Personally, I wouldn't do the food to the theme.  I would do everything else, decorations, games, etc, but NOT the food, you're going to end up serving food that you and others don't like just to follow a theme?  I would just serve what you and your son likes and know that everyone else IS going to like to the food.  Half the success of the party IS the food, and you don't want to serve food no one including you and your son are not going to like just to have a theme.  It's HIS Birthday and his party, it's time for HIS favorite foods!  Do what he likes!  if it's pizza, do that, if it's chicken fingers, do that!  I wouldn't tell him he can't have foods there because there not yellow.  It's going to make him upset and not want to follow through with the theme or the party.  Go with foods he likes and that are his favorites, it's his Birthday, it's time for HIS favorites!!!!

As for decorations, go with a monochromatic theme of yellow, do tones of yellow unless it's just one tone of yellow he likes.  In that case, just run with it.  Get yellow balloons, yellow tablecloths, white napkins or even lighter yellow napkins.  There's no rule that says every party has to be based around a cartoon character or themed character, he wants a color, go with it!  You're getting off lucky!  Go with yellow balloons, tablecloths, napkins, plates,  etc.

You can get a yellow pinata and if you can't find one, get a sun or take him to the party store and ask him to choose one that he likes.  It doesn't have to be yellow or follow the party theme.  As adults we're so strict about everything matching and the great thing about kids, they're so free and don't care about those things, they just go with what they like, and that's great!

For the cake, go with what he likes, whether it's vanilla, chocolate, or ice cream and then get it iced in yellow or just accented in yellow.  If it's a regular cake, get it iced in yellow with white accents, if he chooses an ice cream cake you can go either way and do yellow icing with white or white icing and have the accents done in yellow.  Let HIM choose, he's old enough that you can ask him and he'll tell you.

For games, you can do the regular kids games, pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, hot potato, but instead use a lemon!  Make it pass the lemon!  You can even do pin the lemon on the tree instead of pin the tail on the donkey.  Print out a picture of a tree or draw one and then get some stickers of lemons (go to the scrapbooking section of any craft store) and blindfold the kids, play the game the same way as pin the tail on the donkey, only they have to get the lemons in the tree.   You can play Simon says, the normal games that kids play.  If you're having the party outdoors, you can do relay races like potato sack races, but call it a lemon sack race, three legged races, but use yellow bandanas, wheelbarrel races, etc.

For goodies bags, I also wouldn't follow the themes, unless you have the containers be yellow.  Like get yellow goodie bags and put in them:

A yellow container of bubbles or any color

    Sidewalk chalk

    Crayons

Pencils (at the dollar store you can find ones with names on them, see if you can find one with all of your guests names on them).

    Yellow smily face lollipops

    Other candy

You can even do smily faces as your theme if your son is ok with that.  He may just want the color yellow and there's really nothing wrong with that.  He's happy with the color and that's great!

I hope some of these ideas help and that your son has a great party and very Happy Birthday!!

  9. This sounds like fun.You should get lots and lots of yellow. Lemon Jell-o (yellow) and the birthday cake of course has to be in yellow frosting. All the decorations have to be yellow (cups,napkins,balloons,etc.). Renting a popcorn machine would be fun. Yellow sno-cones  and lemonade.Cubed cheese and if you haven't given out invitations yet they have really cute ones at PartyCity (if they have one where you live). The wearing a yellow shirt is a very good idea. Good luck and i hope your son has fun at his party

  10. I'll bet he loves trucks, tractors & fire engines:) .... John Deere tractors are green & yellow (and there are paper goods for it);   firemen wear yellow slickers ...  My grandson had his 4th birthday party at the local fire station!  The firemen let the kids climb on the fire engines & paramedics' van; and even hung a pinata from the ladder on the engine for them!  My daughter got plastic yellow fire hats for favors, and a cupcake cake in the shape of a fire engine......  There wasn't a need for "games," since the firemen gave a little safety talk to the kids, and the rest of the time they were on the engines & doing the pinata.  She also brought a bunch of pizzas (and some for the firemen)

  11. Yellow...Smiley face , of course. You can find everything from candies to pinatas. This site has a slew of smiley products that kids love.
