Ideas for bridal shower type games?

I wont be able to have a bridal party for my small intimate wedding because my friends and family are flying in from around the country to make it to the wedding. After our brunch reception I will be having a casual after-reception type party for our friends and family to meet and spend time together, I was hoping to find some more ideas for great activities... similar to the ones played at bridal showers. Ideas?!

:) thanks

  1. I have never planned a bridal shower... (not yet at least), but I did a google search on bridal shower games and this site came up:

    http://www.bridalshowergamesatoz.com/

I have actually used these people for my kids b-day games and my sisters baby shower games and they have always been tons of fun.  I looked at their bridal shower games for a couple of minutes and they seem to have some of the ones that other people already listed and a LOT of other ones.  I recommend them based on how much fun their other games were.  Best of luck with your bridal shower!

  2. Recently at my daughter's bridal shower hosted by her friends, they played a really fun "game" where they asked the bride some questions that they previously had gotten her fiance to answer about him (ex:  what is his favorite color?  Also, other more personal questions that she may or may not know).  If she answered the question correctly, she got a "good" gift, which was in a gift bag, but if she answered it incorrectly, she chose a gift bag from the "gag" gift box.  These gifts were just simple, inexpensive items that the hosts had purchased for the shower.  Everyone seemed to enjoy it.

  3. If the party is for males and females I would suggest doing a "newlywed game" type of thing. Its absolutlely hilarious watching couples argue about their answers. We play it in our family all the time.

I'd also suggest the board game Apples to Apples, which can most likely be purchased at any toy store or walmart. very fun and hilarious game.

  4. There could be a question and answer game like

    how did he propose?

    How long have they dated?

things like that then there is bridal bingo and then there is the game where you give everyone two or three plastic rings and if they say the bride or grooms name  and someone gets to take their ring and the one with the most at the end whens a prize.  The first to arrive can get a prize.  Do a tray with wedding things on it and the person who names the most on the list wins.

  5. I think it depends on the guests that will be in attendance.  If the mothers & grandmothers are going to be there, there are some games you obviously would probably not want to do!

A simple "safe" one is to make up papers with the bride & grooms first names written at the top and some lines underneath & have the guests make up words using the letters from their names.  If they have really short names, maybe use their middle names too or even their last name if needed.

Another I've seen done is to have people guess the date of their first "official date".  Closest wins a prize.

  6. I hosted a bridal shower a few months ago for my best friend and we played several games;

    1. How well do you know the bride?

this game had about 15 questions about the bride, such as her favorite color, first job, favorite book, movie, actor/actress, etc. The person who got the most right got a prize.

    2. What's the bride wearing?

I had the bride step out of the room and go to the bathroom and then I handed out a paper containing questions about what she was wearing such as, what do her earring look like, what colors are her dress, etc. Once again, whoever got the most right, won.

    3. Clothespins

When the guests come in the door to the shower they are handed each one clothespin to clip onto their clothing. You explain to them that there are "no no" words. They are not allowed to say these words for the rest of the evening. The words I used were, bride, groom, wedding, marriage. If you heard anyone utter these words you got to take their clothespin. The person at the end with the most clothespins wins the game.
