Question:

Ideas for getting students involved in campus sustainability?

Thanks to the SEI, online sustainability report cards are being created to keep students involved in the matter of how green their school is, along with giving them the lowdown on investments colleges and universities are making with their billion dollar endowments.

I'd like to know if you have any ideas how one could spark interest in teens/students on a large scale and prompt them to use the report cards to help make their college/university selections.

The group was thinking along the lines of a facebook application or something that might allow you to show others the college you've chosen and then their grade on sustainability and endowment spending... any other ideas?

  1. do not do something about school sustainability for one week or even a month or a semester or a year.... but let them see the effects of the loss of sustainability then they will be the ones who will promote school sustainability later on as early as they realize that the loss of sustainability is bad....z....

  2. Hello!!

You can convince teens or students by focusing on their dreams in life, How could they fly in the air of the sky by means of education. EDUCATION IS MUST!! Focus on their emotions, how could they help their families, How could they make a change in the society.

For incentives, why not give scholarships? If you focus on education, focus on education incentives. That would be great!!

Regards to your project.. Hope you'll reach your long-time goals. :-)

  3. I have a great ideal.  Why not try to EDUCATE the students?  that's what they are there for right?  That's what someone is paying all that tuition for, to get a education in something that matters?

Try that, you might get better results.

  4. Hydroponic gardens in the dorms. Make the stoners grow food instead of weed.

Wind turbines (small ones) and solar panels around campus.
