Ideas for going away party??

My husband is leaving to go into the Air Force in November & me and his mom wanna do something..we just don't know where to have or anything....:( Does anyone have any really good ideas?

  2. When my daughter went into the AF, I just had a BBQ in the front yard. Since she couldn't really take anything with her, despite the list of things that her recruiter gave her, I had a money tree for people who chose to contribute. That's how you can put it in the invite too. "Since

    personal belongings are limited to the bare minimum, we will have a money tree available for John" (Plug in his real name obviously) He'll

    need to purchase his personal items from the PX on base. Do not

    send cookies and what not. Wait until he graduates from basic and take them with you. He'll appreciate it more then and won't get in trouble for it. Have lots of his favorite foods... or a potluck with the guests bringing his favorites. It's going to be hard enough to hafta leave, so nothing emotional and touchy. Keep it all upbeat, alive and happy.

    Oh - a word of advice... when you go to his graduation - wear flat shoes. You may have to walk through mud. But you'll definitely have to walk. See you at Lackland!
