I'm looking for yummy ideas for a cold lunch for me to take to work or my teen son to take to school, vegan or not.

If you have ideas for hot sandwiches we could make when eating at home, we'd love that, too! TIA!

  1. Pb&j sandwiches may seem boring, but its an easy thing to make. Another thing is cheese sandwich, kind of like a grilled cheese sandwich, but without having to cook it, and you can add tomatoes and lettuce to it.

  2. A tuna fish sandwich with tomato, onion, lettuce, and mustard.

  3. On of my favorite things to take to school with me is a Caesar salad wrap. I generally use a tomato basil wrap, but you can use any type you enjoy. Then, just add some green-leaf lettuce, a little grated parmesan, a few sliced tomatoes, maybe a few grated carrots. and some Caesar dressing. Wrap it up, hold it together with a tooth pick, and pop it into a sandwich bag.

  4. I just invented a new "sandwich" (quesadilla) yesterday!

Just take a tortilla (maybe something fun like a sun-dried tomato tortilla), put it in a pan with a little butter, and fill half of it with spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, veggie bacon, and mozzarella.  It's so tasty!

  5. Cold lunch ideas:

Smoked Turkey Breast and American Cheese Sandwiches on rye bread.

Chicken Salad Hoagies, Tuna Salad Hoagies, Turkey Salad Hoagies.

Pasta Salad with Crab Meat or Tuna.

    Potato Salad

    Corned Beef Specials

    Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

Turkey Ham and swiss cheese sandwiches

    Hot Sandwiches:

Meatball Hoagies with grated parmesan cheese

    Hot Turkey and Gravy Sandwiches

Hot Roast Beef and Cheese Sandwiches or instead of cheese, gravy.

    Grilled Boneless Chicken breast sandwiches.

    Fried Fish Fillet Sandwiches

    Fried Salmon Cake Sandwiches

    Meatloaf Sandwiches

    Cheeseburgers

  6. to the first answer that sandwich is the best!! i love it!!

panera bread has some good sandwich so you can go there and ask fr a book of the sandwich's and it comes with all the ingredients for everything and its free!

  7. Here is a great hot sandwich! It is a Cuban steak panini.

I made it last night for my boyfriend and this is what he had to say

"It, was zesty and very flavourful! "It took my tastebuds on a ride, I would definitely pay big bucks for this in a restaurant…I really would”

  8. Vegetarian, but not vegan suggestion:

Toasted Panini bread, with mozzarella cheese melted on top of it.  Add grilled/roasted/sauteed(depending on your preference) peppers, onions, Broccoli rabe, garlic, and possibly some other veggies if you have any favorites.

If you want, you can add chicken.  What makes this a good vegetarian sandwich is that it was actually designed as a vegetarian sandwich first and the chicken was an afterthought.  The vegetables chosen are all very flavorful and addicting, too.

You can also modify this pretty easily, if you don't want to use certain ingredients.  These are just some favorites.

  9. grilled eggplant slices (can be hot or cold) with, sliced carrots, sliced cabbage, lettuce and whatever your favorite dressing might be (if packing lunch-try a dipping cup for the dressing)- put on wheat tortilla wrap or whatever bread you might like. :o)

    or

one slice of your favorite vegan cheese (or just cheese for vegetarian sandwich) with mustard, lettuce, i like sliced tomato too, but you know what happens to bread when you pack a tomato snadwich--could pack on the side, or omit!)  and Kettle bakes chips, plain or barbeque flavor. The kettle bakes chips are really yummy and crunchy and will give your sandwich a cool texture! and the baked chips are low fat! Yummmm!

  10. Cold:  Take tofu and slice it thin, you can marinate it if you want but don't have to, fry it till it's crispy and put it in a container in the fridge.  You can add it like bacon, it's great with cheese and hummus and spinach and mustard and pickles (or anything)

Hot: Grilled cheese with pickled jalapenos, pesto, black olives.....mmmm!

Also, where I live (Winnipeg, Canada) you can buy something called "Roast Wheat" and it's like thinly sliced roast beef.  I made a "beef dip" once that was awesome!
