Question:

Ideas for keeping cat from pushing the screen out of patio door?

Every single day I have to fix the screen in the patio door at the very bottom because one of my cats keep pressing their nose against it, and it pops out. lol

The hole is big enough for them to get out, but they run away from it...they don't like the outdoors...just the fresh air. So, my concern isn't that they'll get out, but that they're letting the BUGS in!

Any ideas for keeping them from pressing their faces into the screen?

  1. Spray it with pepper spray, the screen not the cat!!

  2. My contractor just invented a cat-proof railing topper for me, but I can't think of anything equally inventive in this situation.

All that comes to mind is a screen guard, such as you sometimes see on screen doors.

  3. An all natural solution you might consider trying is fresh Rosemary.

The essential oils in the rosemary apparently drive cats nuts!  The Green Gardenista has a great article on using rosemary for this.  Here's the link:

  4. Spray it with bitter apple spray (used as a deterant for animals to stop chewing...should help). Also, have a squirt gun handy...when you see them doing it...spray them. Don't let them see it was you though...it will make them thing that it's coming from somewhere else, and they wont know when it'll come.
