  1. hmmm  book marks.

headbands. 9the kinds with elastic , make like a bookmark and add elastic and viola! A headband!

I skeing and u can make several, or use the thread, and u cam make TONS!!  potholders, and I love cricket's idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why didnt I think of that  !?!?!?   I really like her idea. that way they get to pick out the yarn and you get to make it!

    it is a win-win situation!

  2. How about recycling yarn from "old" sweaters? Check out this:

    I love making small purses:

    Hope this helps.

  3. Why not look up the Japanese craft of Amigurumi. It's the art of crocheting tiny stuffed animals. Find out which friend loves which animal and make them that. You can attach a handle to make it a door hanger, or even make them small enough to become earrings. There's so much you can do with them.

For example, here are Amigurumi project ideas. To find free patterns, do a google search for free Amigurumi patterns.

(this is made with eyelash yarn)

There is no end to what you can do with these gorgeous little critters.

You could always go to thrift stores and pick up yarn they sell for cheaper prices.

Or ask others who you know that crochet if they are willing to give you some of their left over stash.

Or unravel old heavy sweaters or caps that have gotten holes in them and the yarn is still useable.  The heavier ply yarn is better for this.

Hope this has helped you out.

  5. That's so nice! If $ is a problem, give your friends a gift certificate for a knit or crochet scarf. To redeem, they will need to give you the certificate and a skein (or 2) of yarn (you should be specific about the type of yarn you are able to use, like worsted weight only). That way, they can buy their favorite color. You might even go to the craft store together to pick it out. I think they will be OK with it since they will be getting the yarn back in the form of a handmade scarf!

  6. There are lots of smaller projects you could make them! There are lots of free crochet patterns for small cute things you could give as gifts. Here's one: http://berrysprite.blogspot.com/2007/07/...

You can attach anything small to a keyring to use as keychains.

You could also take old sweaters nobody wants anymore and recycle the yarn!
