She has just turned 1 and loves a variety of fruit, veg, meat and fish and is generally a good eater. I prepare all her food and was wondering if anyone has any good meal suggestions? she is very fond on feeding herself with her hands at the moment so things she can pick up herself would be great!

  1. try making ravioli, but fill them with ricotta cheese and add a few colorful sprinkles! nice and non- messy and easy on the digestive system (also my baby cousin's favorite food)

  2. BREAKFAST choices:

    eggs (1 scrambled)

waffle (1 regular size or 2 mini ones)

pancakes (1 regular size or 2 small ones)

    oatmeal (1 packet)

    bowl of cereal

-all served with a fruit (i do banana or apple in the morning)

    SNACKS:

    served with juice

    -grahm crakcer (1)

    -nilla wafers (4 or 5)

    -pretzels (5 or 6)

    -applesauce

-rice cake crisps (by quaker, reallly good!)(4 or 5)

-all served with a fruit (peaches, strawberries, grapes, cantaloupe)

    LUNCH:

    -grilled cheese (half a sandwhich)

    -3 or 4 chicken nuggets

    -mac and cheese

    -yogurt

-sliced deli meat (turkey or bologna only)

served with water and a fruit or veggie

    DINNER:

    -hamburger

    -rotisserie chicken

-baked chicken (coat b*****s in italian dressing, cover with bread crumbs, bake @350 degrees)

-pasta with meatball and sauce ( a little)

-pizza (occasionally 1/2 a slice is enough with other sides)

    served with water

served with rice and a veggie or potato and a veggie

some veggie favs i see are:

-carrots, string beans, asparasus, peas, broccoli

    DESSERT:

-ice cream (i prefer peach or strawberry or vanilla flavors)

    -frozen yogurt

-100% juice no sugar added ice pops

    -fruit

    -carrot cake

try to limit juice to one or two cups a day, one milk in the morning and once at night, at least 4 or 5 cups of water.

make sure ur juice is 100% juice.

*Motts make a juice called Motts for Tots which is watered down 100% juice with vitamins, comes in several flavors, i only buy that.*

make sure no foods have fake sugar like sucralose or aspartame.

make sure no foods contain too much sodium per serving or high fructose corn syrup!

  3. My daughter loved mini pitta pockets filled with cheese, I grilled them and cut them into fingers.  Great as a snack or lunch.  She also loves chicken risotto - I would put peas or chopped up broccoli through it.

  4. My son absolutely loves (and I mean LOVES) bits of cheese (usually mild cheddar) and deli meat (any type). Kraft makes these packages of cheese that are pre-cut ("Snackable Cracker Cuts" is what it's called). They're really convenient! I just break off bits and let him go to town! As far as the lunch meat, I try to find brand that aren't cut super thin. The thinner ones tend to get stuck to his tongue or the roof of his mouth. He also really enjoys cheerios, as well as, the little whole wheat crackers that Gerber makes. I'm really health consious, so I try to stray from snacks that are too salty or sugary, so both of those get the okay from me. Otherwise cooked peas, green beans, carrots, potatoes etc. for veggies. And when it comes to fruits, I love Gerber's diced apples, peaches, and pears (and so does he!). They really convenient when your out in public b/c they don't need to be refridgerated (until after opening) and they're already diced and ready to eat. I hope this helps...just have fun w/ it and experiment, you'd be suprised what they'll eat for you! Good luck!

  5. My hubby is a chef and used to freeze meals that he made, such as spag bol, cauliflower cheese, chilli (very mild obviously) etc etc.  We also gave her plenty of mash potato and vegetables.

Bear in mind that one is quite young to be having lumpy food so you might want to hang back on the chilli for a while, or keep a good eye on her while she's eating.

  6. when my 17 month first turned 1 she was the same way, i bought progresso soups w the noodles and meats and drained it and she loved them, its quick and easy espically when u r eating something spicy as we do to, and its inexpensive and you could one can for 2-3 meals, also she loved still does vienna sausage, i would do that w/ some veggies and fruit, theres a meal.  hope that helps good luck

  7. What you're having! There might be some things you want to blend or puree but I think it's good to get into the habit of eating the same thing at the same time.
