Ideas for my fieldwork for my anthropology class?

i have to do fieldwork where i study some sort of "people". i WAS gonna do some elementary school kids, but my teacher said no, (18 or older people), so i need ideas, like i know someone studying homeless people at a shelter, and another one studying March Madness in high school seniors (when they get acceptance letters for college), another example is studying people at a chuch (christians there)

any ideas (can't be affiliated with my college, like studying a sorority or sports team though), thanks in advance! :)

  1. I like the idea of networking, but the wealthy aren't always the most interesting to study. you might want to branch in subculture groups. I'm working in ethnomusicology...essentially anthropology but exclusively musical.

I've studied punk musicians and those associated (fans and the like) and a couple of other genres.

One project that i'm doing now is really interesting. The establishment of transgender identity through the use of music.

All i'm saying is working with the obscure is something likely to be more interesting to you, might be a new subject entirely and therefore benificial to the community, and would be really apprciated by your professor who i bet has to read through common bullshit papers all the time and hates every minute of it.

    Hope it helped,

    Jake

  2. what about war veterans or veterans in general go down to the local vfw...or your city council members?

  3. Here are some ideas:

    Elderly

    Blind

    Deaf

    Prisoners

I like the idea of church goers, but if you're not familiar with Muslims or Jews why not  try that area instead?

  4. Get smart- study country club people at the wealthiest country club you can find. Get to know them and they may help you get a job after getting out of school. It's called networking.
