  1. have u tried cashews?

jk. that's a really good variety of healthy foods for a kids lunch box. when i was in elementary school it was all corn dogs and pizza and tater tots. ooh the tater tots were good. anyway im surprised she could get bored with a sandwich, if she's hungry enough i'm sure she will eat it. sorry. wish i could be more help.

  2. My daughter likes to bring cold pasta; either pasta salad or pasta w/pesto.  You could also try one of those small thermos' w/chilli, or other leftovers.  How about mexican stuff; rice, beans, salsa w/a flour tortilla or nacho chips.  I know, it hard to make it intersting everyday.

Oops, just remembered that pesto has pine nuts in it...

  3. get a list from the mum of products that are okay. I had one as in my kids scout group we have a child the same and on supper nights the parents gave a list of okay foods. Trouble is I lost all my emails so it is gone. Be careful with Le Snack, they are made in the same area as nuts (check the box) there are ones at IGA i think that are okay. I put some dips in a little container and give rice crackers to my daughter, something like taziki(sp?) I made sushi (calafornia rolls ) for her the other day, put a freezer pack in with it. It is getting cold again, can you put soup in a thermos? Salsa and carrots and celery are great. Those Bega shape cheeses are good. Or gogurts (those yogurt in a tube) just put them in the freezer and they thaw by recess. Tubs of fruit, those jelly and fruit tubs, Splatz (fruit in a squeezy pack). I allow one of these once a week, due to there price. A lot of schools are starting to do Subway weekly or fortnightly. do your school? How about Salada's with butter and vegemite? remember doing vegemite worms with that as a kid? (squeeze it till the vegemite pops through the holes?) Cheese and bacon rolls from Safeway/Woolworths. Lamingtons are great. You can get the boxes of sultanas and dried fruit. My daughter loves Brie and water crackers. I cut some brie into a container and put the water crackers in a snap lock bag. Try different cheeses. I am about out of ideas hope they helped

  4. wraps make new versions of wraps

trail mix with out nuts different kinds of cereals, dry fruit, mini marshmallows,m&ms, raisons anything dry thats snacks

    different kinds of popcorn

    salads

    pudding

  5. I'm the parent of one of those nut allergic kids, and first off let me just say THANK YOU for taking into consideration the other little boy without putting his life in danger.  You have no idea how many parents don't feel that nut allergies are a big deal and don't understand why they should be inconvenienced into changing their child's diet for the sake of the other child.  So thank you a million times.

Some of the snacks I pack for my daughter, I just replace peanut butter with soynut butter.  My other children can't tell the difference. so chances are your child wouldn't either.  I send crackers to dip into it, carrots, apples.. etc.  We send graham crackers with a little dish of apple sauce for dip.  Fruit leathers, general fruit snacks, mini bagels with soynut butter, jelly, or cream cheese, Oreos are nut free but no so healthy ;)  For sandwiches I'l switch it up and use tortillas for "roll-ups", we use soynut butter and jelly, soynut butter and honey, turkey and cream cheese.. Does she have a thermos?  You can send soup, chili, left overs from dinner the night before.. The thermos was what worked best for us.  I can send pasta and my kids love pasta!

FYI to Michelle, M&Ms are not peanut safe.

  6. Do you think you could pack a lunch for me? LOL That sounds awesome. I don't think variety is the issue here, but....

How about packing a thermos and sending in warm things for a change of pace? Pasta, soups, stews....there are all kinds of things you could try. My son likes mini raviolis in his :)

I usually give him a piece of fruit and a small roll to go with it.

    Some tips:

Make sure you preheat the thermos by filling it with superhot water for a bit before putting in the hot food

Choose a small thermos---a shorter one. A kid can't eat a huge thermos full of stew  so you don't want to send it in full and waste some BUT if the food is at the bottom of a tall thermos then they can't reach it without a huge spoon OR they have to pour it into a bowl which means they could spill it. Go get a squat thermos and it will be easier.

****Look for a stainless steel thermos that isn't lined with glass. I didn't know some thermos are lined with glass until one was dropped at school and it broke inside.

Good luck! Your daughter has a very thoughtful mother :)

    Brownie

soups or mac and chesse in thermoes

  9. I just wanted to thank you for being considerate to the child with the nut allergy. My daughter has a peanut allergy. She cannot have any nuts at all. Usually for parties at school parents send so many things she cannot have. The teachers has told parents that there is a nut allergy adn cinamon in class. They still send these things. I have a nice teacher so she brings things for her and the other child. I also send a few extra treats for them on special days so they can have things to. I wish there were more people like you.

I am new to the peanut allergy so you really gave me some ideals of what to send to school. I think you offer a good variety. Have you tried walking around in the grocery store with her and reading labels to find something?
