I need to do an original lesson plan for 4th-8th grade science for my alternative certification program. There's lots of good stuff on the internet, but this is supposed to be original, which is my sticking point. Does anybody have any recommendations? Thanks!

  1. Well, I have no idea what objectives you are covering.  You can study the phases of the moon and use Oreo cookies.  Break them in half and have the kids l**k away different amounts of the cream in the center to represent the phases of the moon.

Study simple machines and give the students a scenario to tell which machines they would use and how.

Place dirt in a foil baking pan.  Press it firmly.  Then teach about erosion.  Then make it rain on the dirt with a watering can or something to demonstrate how erosion occurs.

If you can clarify your objectives, I could be of more help!

  2. that's a ridiculous grade span...4th and 8th grade science are really far apart in content and context...you could always do punnet(?) squares about heredity...kids love that...

  3. This would help if i knew what they were learning...

    on hand activities would help

    projects

    reports on new scientific events...

    etc
