Ideas for painting a table?

I am painting a table that will serve as a television stand in an apartment. I don't want to make it one solid color...any suggestions on any patterns or designs I should paint it? I want something fun and bold.

You could always paint it different colors for each section but that's taking the risk of looking kindergartenish your could also stain it and put more in some spots to have a different look
