Ideas for painting wooden letters?

I have wooden letters that will spell our name. I am looking for some ideas for designs to paint on them. I specifically need links and pictures. I want them colorful, with more than just dots or stripes, yet something that is easy enough to copy. The letters are approx. 6 inches high and 4-5 inches wide, 5 letters in total.

They have been prepped for painting, and I have many colors to choose from. I would like each letter different but coordinating.

Any thoughts? Thanks!!

DECOUPAGE! I was thinking maybe printing out some pictures of your family and cutting out just the faces of your family members and covering  the letters with them

or go thru the a magazine and cut out letters like if you are covering a letter W then cut out lots of w's in all sizes and fonts and even different colors..

or print the name you are spelling like wilson (and print it a million times on the page and cut it out and paste them randomly on the letters)

I think that would be cool it would draw people in to see what exactly are on those letters? i definitely think you should use words of some kind.

How about a solid color background and then modge podge stickers, paper

designs from paper napkins, scrap

book pages, wrapping paper etc.

Glue on some decorative ribbon or lace,

add some buttons in different sizes

and colors, add beads, sequins. Perhaps

use stencils in a creative way. Another idea, bring some photos of the

people whose name is being spelled to

a photoshop and get photocopies of the

pictures and modge podge these onto the

letters. Accent with buttons etc.
