  1. If your providing a meal, I think pizza and salad is a good option.  Most adults and kids like pizza. If you have a Sam's Club nearby, they have really good and low priced pizza.  If you only want snacks, fruit trays usually go over well with toddlers.

  2. My daughter has 3 kids under 4-1/2 (and goes to at least 2 birthday parties for their friends each week!)...so I see alot of toddler birthdays:) .....  She always has a veggie/dip tray out, so the kids can snack when they're hungry (adults too).  I had a platter of little cheese cubes, with thin little pretzel sticks stuck into them, at Easter too for the kids ...   Pizza is usually served at all the birthday parties - basically for the ease of it, and everyone likes it ....  She's been getting "cupcake cakes" at Kroger's.  They're cupcakes, pushed together, and frosted as one big cake.  It's so much easier to serve, and for kids to eat!  They'll do whatever you want too (fire engine, Sesame St., gorilla, etc.)...    Just keep it simple.  The party isn't going to be that long for a toddler anyways;)

  3. Like some of the others have said; little party foods but make sure you have some colorful cupcakes or cookies too as this itself should memorise the kids.

Maybe cook some plain gingerbread men and put all the decorating materials out and let people (yes kids and adults!) make their own gingerbread men. The kids can be as messy as they like and the adults can be creative or rude with it!!!

  4. Pizza, submarine sandwiches, some vegetarian options, salsa, chips, booze and a pinata. Maybe a make your own sundae bar for the kids.

  5. I think most people just go ahead with separate food for the little ones!  I have seen gourmet mac and cheese, good dips like hummus, and any sort of fruit.  Cheese and crackers, veggies and dip.  If you do some sort of sub sandwiches, let people put on their own dressing.

I doubt you are having a sit down meal, so just have a buffet with lots of options!

People with really picky kids will bring their own food.

  6. You could do a few things.. first could be a cookout type of thing

    with hot dogs

    hamburgers

    coleslaw

    potato salad

    baked beans

or you could do the whole taco bar thing were you lay out all of the taco stuff and let people create their own burritos and tacos and maybe even have nachos so ppl can add stuff on their also.

Then you could go the simple route and just have a variety of finger sandwiches, lil smokies, deviled eggs, crackers and cheese stuff like that. or maybe order pizza.

when i did my lil boys 1st birthday last year we just did a cookout.. i had hot dogs hamburgers, and a few casseroles but then i just had family attend. I guess it depends on how many ppl you have attening and if your having a themed party
