Ideas for presents for a 1 year old....?

I know that I should know this myself, especially since I have three kids but my baby's birthday part is in two weeks and evryone keeps asking me what kind of toys to give her, I need suggestions on toys for a one year old please.

my son loves the peek a boo blocks by fisher price. some are little squares and others are balls and they have animals and such in the middle of them. i also like the "parents" line they sell at target

How about a sing a long DVD, this used to keep my little one happy for hours - try Fun song factory, colourful and good nursery rhymes too.

My kids when they were one they loved anything with bright colors. Just go to wal-mart and buy them a bunch of those big colored balls.

This is the age where her brain is like a sponge, so I will suggest didactic toys. Lego and leap frogs are very good.

books, baby einstein videos, a teddy bear, sit n spin, gift card so they can pick out their own toy.

My friend's daughter just turned one a couple of weeks ago, and most of us bought a lot of stuffed animals like Elmo or something that makes sound or does something.  or we bought clothes or money to the mum so she can buy what she thinks is best.

tell them to get gift cards to baby stores like babies-r-us or kids clothing like carter's so that you would be able to choose what best fits your child. you don't have to listen to me though i'm only 16 haha.

Be practical - Books and clothes. You can maybe tell one or two people a toy or two, but everyone else, say books and clothes, and you'll have stuff to read to her and a good variety of clothing for her.

This could be a good time to get socks, onesies, pj's, a fall jacket, and just outfits. Have them get them big as well (i.e. I'm going to a 1 year old party next week and got them size 18 months and warmer clothing for winter.)

Trains, dolls, stroller to push the doll in, stuffed animals that sing ABC's or count, toy guitar or anything else that makes noise, sandbox, side walk chalk, books, Little Einstein or Dora dvd, ball, my little ponies.

just went thru this in June. This is a good age for Books. Building Blocks. Walking toys. Things that will initiate her motor skills. Toys R Us , has lots and lots of toys with age limits on them. My son loves to read books with me..Also anything that has a learning point to it is wonderful. Like ABC & 123 puzzles for her age group. This is a very BIG learning stage..they are trying to figure out their little world..which is really big to them. (which you know that having 3)..Just trying to give you what we did for my son's birthday presents..Good luck.
