Question:

Ideas for reusing pool water

Once it rains a few times in the summer, I have plenty of water in the pool. Around 1,000 gallons extra. Does anyone know of good uses for it besides flushing the commode?

It seems fire departments seem to have deals with the local water companies to get unlimited water. The concrete people I talked to order the concrete delivered, and no longer mix on site. The water company isn't going to suggest anyone, that will take away from their business.

Water is scarce, but still basically too cheap to bother transporting. If anyone knows of a situation where the water would need transported anyway, I think we may find our solution!

  1. If water is still too cheap to bother transporting, then chances are it's not that scarce.

  2. do what we did when we had a pool.... back wash on your lawn that is really all you can do because of the chemicals in the pool  does not hurt the grass

  3. Wash your car. Water the lawn and the garden. Fill the birdbath.

Have you asked your water company for ideas? You might be surprised at the response you get. They figure that the small amount that they save you is more than outweighed by their being a good corporate citizen.
