Ideas for snacks???

I am planning on having a gathering next month and would like some ideas for party food. I have a pretty large selection of things I can make, but most of the folks that know me have tried them all and I'd like to come up with something new and exciting. Got any quick finger food ideas? (I'm not into the 'put out a bowl of chips' or veggie/fruit trays...I like to make real snacks....like pigs in a blanket or mini burgers...spinach dip. need new ideas)

  1. Hello,

Here is a link to a great sweet, snack recipe.

It is called "White Trash", it is a bit addictive and habit forming.

Here is a link to the recipe:

All I the recipes on my web-site are tested, sampled and good. If they weren't, I would not post them. I hope this helps you! Good Luck with your party!

  2. You can make anything like get some puff pastry and make them into finger shapes and put some vegetables in there and put it in the oven.

You could also make some chicken tikkas and put them on sticks.

Home made tortillas are very simple to make. You just buy that kind of indian tortilla bread and cut them into small triangles and fry them. You could make your own dip with this or buy one.

Just use your imagination, think of something you really like and make a smaller version of it like pizza finger or maybe some maetballs on sticks but with a filling inside like cheese or anything that you think goes well with it.

Just mix a few things together like some crutons with sum chutney on top of it and maybe fish or meat. i hope this helps

  4. Go to foodnetwork.com and go to the holidays and parties they have a great selection!!!

  5. I love to serve easy but different appetizers also. Here are a few that I have tried. Enjoy!

Warm oven to 350 degrees. Brush olive oil on slices of a baggette. Place in oven just to toast, remove from oven and top with gorgonzolla and a drizzle of honey. Place back in oven to melt. Yummy with a glass of Chenin Blanc wine.

Another favorite is to bring a block of cream cheese almost to room temperature. Mix a jar of pesto and sundried tomatoes (add a bit of the oil) and mix. Top the cream cheese log with the pesto mixture and top with toasted pine nuts. Serve with crackers.

Bread Bowl Fondue is always a hit. This is a recipe that I like to use and guest love it.

    1 loaf round bread

8 oz process cheese (eg. Velveeta), cubed

    2 cups sour cream

1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

1 cup diced fully cooked ham

    1/2 cup chopped green onions

1 (4 oz) can chopped green chilies

    1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

    2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    1 tablespoon butter, melted

    Assorted fresh vegetables

Cut the top fourth off the loaf of bread; set top aside. Carefully hollow out bottom, leaving a 1/2-in. shell. Cube removed bread; set aside.

In a bowl, combine the process cheese, sour cream and cream cheese. Stir in the ham, green onions, chilies and Worcestershire sauce. Spoon into bread shell; replace top. Wrap tightly in heavy-duty foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 60-70 minutes or until the filling is heated through.

Meanwhile, toss reserved bread cubes with oil and butter. Place in a 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown, stirring occasionally. Unwrap loaf and remove bread top; stir filling. Serve with vegetables and toasted bread cubes.

I always like to put out something sweet too... chocolate dipped strawberries rolled in nuts.

I like to make these yummy taco cups-

take packaged biscuit dough and put one dough into a muffin pan- spread out and up sides a little bit

then put one scoop of heated taco meat into each and bake as directed on biscuit dough- maybe a little longer till dough is nice and brown

then top with shredded cheese, a spoonful of sour cream, a pickled jalapeno slice, and a drizzle of taco sauce or salsa

how about some Breshetta on toasted baguette slices or stuffed mushroom caps- maybe homemade jalapeno poppers....? make sure you make something sweet too!

  11. Okay, here goes:(most of these are Italian, but you're guests will never know...)

Alright, I know this sounds stupid, but whenever I have people over, I love to make frittatas. They're kind of like italian omelets, except you don't have to flip them. Just cut it up and serve:

FRITTATA WITH ASPARAGUS, TOMATO, AND FONTINA CHEESE

    6 large eggs

    2 tablespoons whipping cream

    1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    1 tablespoon butter

12 ounces asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1/2 inch pieces

    1 tomato, seeded and diced

    3 ounces fontina cheese, cubed

Preheat the broiler. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, cream, salt, and pepper to blend. Set aside. In a 91/2-inch diameter nonstick ovenproof skillet, heat the oil and the butter over a medium flame. Add the asparagus and saute until crisp and tender- about 2 minutes. Add the tomato and saute for 2 minutes longer. Pour the egg mixture over the asparagus mixture and sprinkle the cheee over. Cover and cook over medium-heat until the frittata is almost set. Pop it into the broiler until the top is golden brown,  about four minutes. Serves 6.

CAPRESE SALAD (this is soooo good, trust me. Just use fresh mozzarella)

    3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste

1/4 teaspoon black pepper, plus more to taste

3 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil

1 1/4 pounds of assorted tomatoes(vine ripened, cherry, plum, yellowetc.)

    6 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese

    2 tablespoons thinly sliced basil

Whisk the lemon juice, salt, pepper in a medium bowl. Gradually whisk in the oil to blend. Set the dressing aside.

Cut the vine ripened tomatoes in 1/4 inch thick slices, and plum tomatoes into wedges. Cut the cherry, grape, and teardrop tomatoes in half. Arrange the tomatoes and cheese on a platter. Drizzle the dressing, and sprinkle the basil on top. Add salt and pepper to taste.Serves 6.

and one more, trust me, youve got to try it. As weird as it sounds...

    SWEET RED PEPPER CROSTINI

8 slices (1/2 inch thick) baguette

    1 tablespoon olive oil

1/3 cup roasted red pepper strips (storebought, since you probably don't have time to make them)

1/4 smoked mozzarella or fontina cheese

Preheat the oven to 375.  Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet. Brush the bread with oil, and bake until pale golden and crisp, 15 minutes. Preheat the broiler. Arrange the bell pepper strips atop the bread and sprinkle with cheese. Broil until cheese melts, 2 minutes. Serves 8.

NOTE: you can make the bread part of this a day in advance, just store them in an airtight container, and return to the oven before going onto the next step.

Good luck, and have a great PARTY!!!!!!!

  12. take deli ham medium sliced,  spread on spreadable cream cheese.  Then roll up.  Cut roll into thirds and secure each piece with a toothpick.  Yum.

Taco dip.  This is really easy but really popular and goes fast at a party:

    2 softened cream cheese.

    1 16oz sour cream

    1 packet taco seasoning.

Mix with mixer. Put in bottom of a cookie sheet. Top with shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and green onions. Use the cheese but you can altered the rest to your taste, maybe add black olives. Make 2 of these. Serve with tostitos scoops.

Fruit kabobs are easy with chunks of fruit.

    Silver dollar rolls:

It is just shaved deli meat and cheese triangles. You dont have to put lettuce on them, ours did not have it.  real butter on them and  mayo and mustard packets on ice on the side.
