  1. Limit TV and computer viewing. Children should not watch tv or do 'computer' till around age 2. Before then, kids learn to 'tune out' stuff around them so they can watch their show.

  2. Anything that uses the senses is good, like allowing them to play in a tub of sand/cornmeal/rice/etc.  Maybe even bury a few small toys and see if they can find them.

If you're talking about pre-reading skills, anything that involves books is good.  Simply reading to a child is one of the best things you can do for them.  When you open a new book, take your time exploring each page.  Talk about the picture on each page, encouraging the child to notice what's the same/different from the other pictures, what they think the words on this page will say, etc.  Then, read the words, pointing to each word as you go along.  This will help them learn that the words each mean something as well as helping them learn to track from left to right and from top to bottom.

After a brief look, this looks like a good website:

    http://www.preschoolrainbow.org/

I found it by doing a simple yahoo search for "preschool activities".  It looked like there were lots of good websites to go to for ideas.  Happy hunting!
