Ideas for summer project?

I'm pretty bored sometimes, and I was thinking of doing a little project. I want to something in cooking so I wondered if anyone had any ideas for that.

Also, I wanted to make a scrap book, but I'm not so sure of what to put in it and what to write etc.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks x*x

For a scrapbook, you can make one that's all about you, your life.  You can include pictures of your friends and family, pets, places you like to go, etc.  You don't have to have pictures on every page, you can do Top Ten Lists of your favorite songs, places to go, foods, colors, etc.  You can do your best friends, etc.  

There is NO wrong way to scrapbook!  Do what you feel and what you want to remember, that's what's most important.  Include the things you want to remember, whether it's your favorite movies and music at this time in your life or what colors, etc.  You can put pictures of your friends and family, and then put lists of your favorite things, you can put things you don't like, things you like, inside jokes between you and your friends, goals that you have, what you'd like to do when you grow up, you can even do a goal page of where you see yourself in 5 years, 10 years, and so on!

There's no wrong or right way, just go with what you feel and usually once you get started, it takes over and you're on a roll.  You can go to the crafts store and get stickers and things so for the pages that have no pictures, you can decorate with them with the stickers that match what you're writing or listing.  Like if you have a list of favorite foods, you can have food stickers and you'd be surprised how many stickers you can find in many different foods!  

You can even walk around the aisles to see what inspires you and what you like and don't like.  Doodling is very hot right now in scrapbooking so you can even doodle on your pages.  

The one thing I would do is make sure that everything you use is acid free, which if you go to Michael's or AC Moore or Joann's and buy your supplies there, or anywhere that sells scrapbook supplies, even Walmart and Target, they will be. Things like the paper, glue, and the pens.  This way your work will last longer, the acid turns yellow over years and ends up eating through everthing and the acid free products protect that from happening.  

For the cooking, you can go through family recipes, or ask your mom if you can help her with dinner one night.  If you already know how to cook, ask her if you can make some things.  If not, start small and ask her if you can help with the cooking prep, there's a lot to the prep and learning that is BIG and needed when learning how to cook, it's a VERY BIG step in learning how to cook because it's most of the cooking part!  Ask her if you two can make a meal together.  You can go through some family meals or through a cookbook and ask her if maybe a night or two a week if the two of you can make dinner together, or if she can assign you cooking duties at night to help her.  The more you're in the kitchen with her, the more you're going to learn, even by watching you learn a LOT!  You can also see if there are cooking classes in your area for your age.  Check out the kitchen stores like williams-sonoma, surlatable, and any other ones that you have.   A lot of them do kids and teens cooking camps and classes and you can go there and take classes from the same chefs that teach the adult classes.  

Cooking is not just fun, but it is a survival skill and it's SO great that you want to learn how to do it!  I'm sure your parents are going to be thrilled that you want to learn how!  You can even help your mom from start to finish, from making up the menu, to shopping for it, to preparing it, to cooking, to serving, and then of course, there's cleaning it up!   Then you begin to realize just how much work really goes into making dinner every night and how much she really does.
