Question:

Ideas for what to do on an 18 hour plane ride?

In a couple days I am flying to South Africa. It's an 18 hour plane ride (on top of the ride from Seattle to New York) and I don't know what I'm going to do on the plane (there and back)! Do you have any ideas? I bought some books to read and I have an iPod. Do you know of any hilariously entertaining podcasts? Or any ways to pass the time in general?

Thanks!

  1. I just back from an 11 hour plane ride to China!  On our airline, they provided a huge selection of movies... But I would definitely reccomend bringing a portable DVD player, and a spare battery, along with some new DVD's you haven't seen yet.  It's a great way to spend 2 hours at a time.  You also might invest in Sudoku or Crossword books.  Also, wearing very comfortable clothes (pajamas even!) and slippers will make more comfortable for you to sleep, and the plane ride will go by much faster... Also, bringing some snack food (like a jar of peanuts or something) won't pass time, but will alleviate the feeling of boredom.... So will sitting next to someone you can talk to!

    Have fun in South Africa!

  2. If you got a window seat, look out the window as the world passes by and enjoy the scenery. That is what I call in flight entertainment. I love flying. It's a beautiful thing. Who needs TVs or DVDs??  : )

  3. Sleep!, I hate to advise you to take sleeping pills but it worked wonders for me because it just made the flight more bearable. I mean you can only read and listen to your Ipod for so long.

You probably can also bring a DVDplayer and bring a bunch of movies with you.

    Happy Trip!

  4. You can sleep or listen to your ipod or if you have a nintendo ds you can play it or a laptop bring it on the plan ride.
