Question:

Ideas for what to do with an exchange student?

My family is hosting a 15 year old boy from France for 2 weeks (I'm a 15 year old girl.) Can anyone help me out with ideas on what might be new to him and what places/activities and such would be fun for him? I really know nothing about France, and I don't want to drag him along to things he could easily go to/experience at home.

Any suggestions?

  1. Well, you're technically supposed to just keep with your own life because he is here to experience what life is like in America.  But right now my family is hosting a 17 year old German girl, and we are going to the bigger cities around us to go shopping.  You could also go to a baseball game, because most people in Europe don't know much about that sport.  Also, I don't know when he is coming, but right now the European Soccer Championships are going on, and he might want to watch that.  You can go on walks, see if there are any festivals going on around you, go to parks, a lake if there is one by you......  But remeber that he is here to see what life is like in America, so don't overdo it!!

    EDIT:

You could go to movies, but ask him what he wants to see.  Or you could rent an American movie that he already knows.

  2. As someone who just came home from India on a year longn exchange it is important to entertain him bit to try and make the most of his time and give him a good impression.

Inviting him out with you and your friends is enough. If you guys hang out or have lunch please invite him. Do normal fun things with your friends just more of them! don't let him spend a whole day sitting around the house, its boring and gives a bad impression.

  3. having a french exchange student is really fun. i got one last year and the best advice i can give you is to just make him feel welcome. it wouldn't hurt to learn just a bit of french to make him feel more at home the first couple days when he is going to be more homesick. give him a day or two to let him settle in before you jump on him with all the american stuff. another thing i can say is that one of the main differences is what they eat for breakfast so you could make a huge american breakfast for him. just generally hanging out, stuff that you would do with your friends will show him how americans have fun. hope that helps!

  4. YOU DONT NEED TO ENTERTAIN HIM ON A BIG BASEJUST DO NORMAL STUFF AND A FEW EXTRAS AROUND YOUR STATE
