her party is at a local park that has a splashpad and we've rented a large pavilon. these are the table decorations i'll be making.

and we'll have bowls of gummy fish/swedish fish and goldfish crackers on the tables.the tables will be covered in pink and orange tablecloths. we'll decorate with aqua, pink and orange balloons.

i need ideas for invitations i can make. i was thinking about using a paper cd sleeve and putting a fish shaped cut out with paper dots (confetti) on a blue backround so that you can see them through the cd sleeve opening and i'll print all the party info on the back of the blue paper. any other ideas?

  1. I LOVE your theme!!!

I also love how you're doing your invites!  The ONLY thing I would do

    1.  Make sure to seal the confetti in the sleeve, no one is going to want to clean up the confetti after opening up the invite.  If it comes and goes all over the place, it's going to make them upset.

    2.  You can get little fish stickers in the scrapbooking area of any crafts store like Michael's or AC Moore and put them in the sleeve.  Being you have blue paper as a background put the fish stickers on the front of the paper then the info on the back and it will look like a fish bowl!  Keep everything else the same the confetti will look like the bubbles in the fish tank and the blue background will look the water, and then you have the stickers.

This has nothing to do with but I have to mention, you can make fishbowls out of jello and they are SO cute!  Being it's your theme, I had to tell you! You get blue jello and make it and then pour it in little plastic cups, (this way each child has their own little dessert).  Then, put it in the refigerator and one hour into setting up, you put little jelly fish into them, you know the candy fish, and push them down with a straw or something this way you're only making a small hole.  The hole WILL close up as the jello sits.  You don't want the fish all the way down the glass, just halfway this way it looks like they're swimming around the glass like real fishbowls!  It comes out SO cute and the kids will wonder how they're in there like that!  It comes out so cute when they're done and you see the fish suspended in the jello it looks like they're swimming in the jello.  I wouldn't put more than one or two fish in there though, it gets too crowded and loses it's effect.

I LOVE your theme and all that you're doing for the party.  You're putting a lot of thought and creativity into it and it shows and it's going to be great!  I hope your daughter has a very Happy 1st Birthday!!

  2. Nice idea, just keep it simple. I would also suggest you glue the confetti onto the paper so it won't make a mess when opened.

don't forget the cake, see link.

I would strongly suggest you try out the fish gelatin recipe first. From experience I can tell you that some recipes from the online site you mention frequently forget to mention one crucial ingredient, or the amount, or the time needed to prepare it, or a step needed to prepare it.

Also seriously consider if a one year old can chew gummy fish. I have gone to several parties where the food selections offered sometimes and inadvertently posed a choking threat for very young children.

    Have fun

  3. well there you go looks to me like you already have it planned out and really so thoughtful and beautiful. great work. sorry i don't have any ideas for you just wanted to let you know your idea is the best add that to the karen's fish bowl link and your set.have fun!!!!!!!!!!!
