Ideas on entertainment for a 13 year old french exchange student in the south west?

ways in which to entertain a child french partner over the weekend or places to take them.

Just try showing them different features of the area, like the Roman Baths in Bath (www.romanbaths.co.uk) or maybe go to the coast if the weather is okay. Visit local towns or villages so they can see a lot more of the area itself, and maybe one day visit London. It's about an hour and a half's train journey from Somerset but I'm sure he/she will enjoy seeing all the major sights like Big Ben, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace etc. If the weather's bad, opt for the cinema or indoor shopping. Pretty much everyone likes watching films and I'm sure they'll want to bring some souvenirs back home.
