Question:

Ideas on getting someone to take their Schizophrenia/Depression meds?

My father really needs to be taking his medication.

He refuses to believe he's ill, but if he would take his medication, I think it would help.

He was at a mental hospital for a few weeks in the winter, but he still won't take his medication.

He has schizophrenia, mild depression, and some sort of delusional disorder.

I'm 14, but I want to try and help him get better.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to try and persuade him to take his medication?

  1. Be straight with him, tell him how much you care about him and that you want him to take his meds so he will be better.

  2. Maybe you should talk to your dads doctor about tips to stick to his treatment plan, such as taking a medication that's available in a long-lasting injectable form.

  3. Give it to him as he sleeps.

  4. sometimes tough love is all it takes.seriously tell him that if he doesn't start taking his medications you're going to move in with another family member, that is if you're willing to stick to this. This made my father slow down on playing WoW.
