As someone who has seen Latin American business ventures fail spectacularly, I would advise spending some time in Panama City and learning how the business community functions, and the financial investment requirements for foreigners owning and operating a business in the country.  Learn if you need to bribe people as a course of normal business.  Learn if there is organized crime which you need to pay protection to.  Learn if people show up for work on time.  Do they view time the same way we do?  Do they have mandatory payments to employees whom you fire (can you fire employees).  In other words, don't take anything for granted as being 'impossible' to occur.  Nothing is out of bounds.  Latin America is a great place, but with different rules and standards which you need to understand and leverage to be successful

Stay away from eco-tourism.  You end up babysitting rich people like me, and not making a lot of money.

Hook up with a panamanian lawyer. He can set up Panamania corporations. US citizens can put their money there.. There is no tax on money earned from outside Panama. Its also VERY anonymous.

They are widening the canal, right? So go online and sell rocks from the "original Panama Canal".

People will buy anything.
