  9. Make customes and play dress up

Build a fort out of chairs and blankets

Make up a new song and dance

Put him in the tub with a patch on his eye and a scarf on his head, and let him play pirates

Look at old photos and teach him about the people in them

Help him create his own scrap book

Play card games such as memory or go fish

    Call relatives

Make a video to send to a distant relative

  10. What about reading together? Board games like ludo and snakes and ladders ... dominoes ... Building with lego? Teach him to knit? Pretend play - make a wendy house out of the clothes horse, stuff like that?

When all else fails, he can help with the housework; he's big enough to dust and hoover. Pairing the clean socks, sorting the undies ... have a giggle while you're doing it.

Mind you, if he's 5 and in the UK, shouldn't he be at school?

  16. I have 8 siblings ranging from ages 8 months to 11 years. so i know how to keep any age group of child preoccupied. 5 year old children (dependant on a boy or girl) are really into the plastic toys such as barbies or bionicals.

they also all like to play tag.

baking brownies or something is always good.

also cut and paste arts and crafts are good.

painting is also a good idea too.
