Question:

Ideas to raise money for a 6th form trip to France?

There's nine of us in our A-Level French class and we'd love a trip to France to help understand french culture (some of the class have never been before)

It doesn't seem like the school is going to fund any of it so it we are thinking of doing some fund raising to help pay for part of the trip.

Any ideas on what we could do? (french themed if possible!) We're willing to give most things a go!

Thanks a lot

  1. When I went to Nigeria I did:

A large poker tournament. Winner takes half, you the other.

Sponsered Zorbing - rolling down a hill in a big ball of air.

Auction - I met Ricky Hatton and asked him to sign some boxing gloves - I made £200 on ebay for them and I got Abby Titmuss to sign a thong. That made £300.

I also climbed Scar Fell Pike in the Lake district

You could do a sponsered anything - silence, starve, fancy dress day, etc

As far as french themes go you could do a sponsered talk french all day no english whatsoever.

    Use your imagination....

  2. My sister and friends of her raised money for a trip by having their project's name written on "fun" wooden pens (they had an animal's head at the end of a spring). They sold them for 1 euro each. In total they sold around 400 of these. It worked well. I wish you a nice trip.

  3. Sell things at bootsales, get people to sponser you do something like wax some guys legs or walk round with jelly in welly boots, i have a feeling you will need to do alot of babysitting and bootsales and bake sales to make up the money though!

Prob be alot easier if you all got a job on friday night or something.

  4. You might want to consider running a charity race night the sites below have some free useful advice.

  5. not a french theme, but try a duck race. hire 500 plastic ducks , sell them at £1.00 each, get some volunteers to help not lose the ducks and a small stream or cordon of part of a river, ask your friendly local shops for donations of prizes and voila! £500 towards your trip. another one is quiz nights £10 per team of 4 people. good luck
