Ideas to setup a backyard...?

my brother just bought a condo..and he wants me to give his backyard life...its all dead now..i dont know how to start..can anyone helpm ewith this and give me detailsl of how should i turn tht place into a bful garden?

It would be helpful to know where in the world your brother lived.  If you haven't done any yard work before it might be easiest to start with putting down grass seed, covering it with hay or straw and watering it if it needs to be.  I would also reccomend starting with container gardening if you've never gardened before.  check out some flea markets and get some neat containers, buy potting soil and stick the plants in or put the seeds in.  Read the directions on the tag or the seed pack to see exactly what each plant needs by way of shade, sun or water and experiment that way.  It will also be cheaper to start with containers than to redo the entire yard without much experiance.
