my mom is a teacher aid for an elementary school. My brother who is in pre-k is doing a project for what their parents do at work. He needs some materials to bring in to show his classmates what she does. We already have an apple, and a teacher's badge. The person who states the most that we would use will get 10 points!!!!!

  1. a picture of her with the class would be great

    ruler

    chalk

    pencil

    paper

    toy

    book

draw around her hand coz she gives everyone a helping hand

have her kiss a pic coz her mouth gives them encouraging words

Teachers do so much, I can't stop!

  2. maybe he could take in some educational materials that she uses with her class, like worksheets and stuff. that way, he could show his class how important she is to the students learning! another idea would be to bring some music and art supplies, a ruler, chalk, crayons, pencils, etc... he could teach the class like a teacher's aid would.

  3. I'm a teacher's aide.  Basically, we do just as much as primary teachers do.   We assist children who need one on one help, we may help to teach a lesson.  We also correct papers, we help the children control their behavior.  We help decorate the classroom, we organize bulletin boards.  We speak with parents when needed.

Basically, we are the teacher's right hand man.   We are an extra set of hands, eyes and ears.   If a teacher has a classroom of 25 kids, she can't possibly help all of them at once.

But, the class and be split in half.  The aide helping with one group and the teacher with the other.

Ask your mom to bring home examples of student work or project they have work on as a class.

Honestly, the apple and the badge are a bit stereotypical.    Show the children's work, their accomplishments.  As a teacher's aide, I'm proud of certain lessons I've helped teach.  I taught a special education student to write their name.  I felt so good about myself after that.  I'm sure your mom has had a hand in helping a handful of students excel.  Show the class that!!

  4. What are your mothers duties as a teacher's aide?  If she reads to the class she should bring a book.  If she runs copies of worksheets she could bring a picture of herself at the copy machine.  Does she laminate items for the bulletin board -- bring that.  If she takes the class to recess she could bring a ball.  Does her job require her to do lunch duty?  If so show a lunch box.  She should go through every duty she has and somehow show it.

  5. A picture would be great with her in the classroom...

How about a box of Bandaids, I figure she's the one they run to, when they have a boo boo or is feeling sick and helps them.

a candle..she helps them shine their light..for the future...

A hand clapper...or trace her hand, because she gives them a hand when needed, if you use the hand clapper...you can say because she provides encourgement and is their cheerleader..

    Hope some of these help.

You mom has a very important job.!
