Question:

Identify my houseplant - green and yellow leaves?

I bought a plant at a local garden store and there was no identification or care instructions with it at all. It is (now) about 10 inches tall, grows straight up, has long, rounded green leaves with yellow through the middle and around the outsides. At the tips of the leaves, there's a little yellow tip protruding from the underside of the leaf.

A picture of it is here:

Anyone know what it is?

  1. My best guess, based on the photo – would be a Codiaeum (euphorblaceae) and is commonly called “Croton”. This plant has so many different varieties – they often look like completely different species. Some of these plants have new leaves that look the same as mature leaves yet in others the new leaves look completely different than mature leaves and it can look like you have one type of plant growing on top of a completely different one.

  2. I think it might be a Croton or in the same family.
