  1. Intrisnic motivation refers to the drive that people feel to excel in their job for personal satisfaction (thus intrinsic).  General examples include employees that work "for its own reward".  By contrast, those that are extrinsically motivated only do things for rewards (like bonuses, promotion, external recognition).  IT is thought in organizations that depending on the person, you can determine what they need to excel in the workplace (ie praise or recognition for the extrinsics).
