Question:

Identify this insect? Floating in my toilet. (pics) Possible termite?

So every day when I go into the bathroom, I see anywhere from 1 to 5 of these little guys floating in my toilet. The first thing that comes to mind is "termite" but I didn't recall seeing any wings on them.

If these are termites, i'd like someone to let me know immediately so I can contact our landlord. Thanks so much fellow Yahoo-ers.

  1. They are ants.  Likely looking for water.  Unable to climb out of the bowl.  If they are the right size it could be a carpenter ant.

    If so you should tell your landlord they do not do as much damage as termites but they still nest in wood.  There are a lot of possible locations around a bathroom.
