Iestyn Harri says his side is far ahead of competitors in Four Nations - Rugby Leagues
While talking to news reporters on Saturday, October 22, Wales Rugby League coach, Iestyn Harris, acknowledged that his side is ahead of the remaining teams in contention for the fast approaching, Gillette Four Nations Series.
Wales will take on Ireland in a warm-up match at The Gnoll in Neath on Saturday, which is exactly a week before they will clash against England in Leigh.
While talking about their recent success which has increased their performance, the Wales coach, who started his coaching responsibilities in 2009, said, “We’re probably three or four years ahead of schedule and didn’t think we’d progress this far so soon.
But you take opportunities that come your way and we’re looking forward to it all. This is our chance to be in the Welsh sporting limelight. It’s been really difficult over the last few years playing in the second tier competitions to try and get people behind
you. Last year, nobody expected us to go to France and win. This year we’ll be in the same situation."
While labeling his side as the under dogs of the competition, Harris further added, that Four Nations will be the first Elite competition for his side in so many years, which makes the opportunity all the more lucrative for them. According to him, his side
will put in their very best to establish themselves side amongst the elite Rugby League nations of the world.
He also stressed upon the amount of hard work his team has given into their game to reach the current level so early in their sporting journey. However, it was enforced upon by the coach, that there is still a lot more to achieve.
Moreover, the coach is expecting a huge crowd to support them in Saturday night’s clash against Ireland at The Gnoll. This will not only boost their already soaring morales but will push them to go beyond their existing limits to set up a new benchmark for
themselves.
With the determination shown by the coach, it appears that the Welsh side is nonetheless a strong contender for the series title.
