Iestyn Harris confirms Lee Briers to lead Wales in Four Nations Series  - Rugby League

While talking to reporters on Thursday, October 20, Wales coach, Iestyn Harris, has confirmed that Warrington Wolves’ Lee Brier will lead Wales in the Gillette Four Nations Campaign. The prop is expected to march Wales into Saturday night’s warm-up game
under his leadership against Ireland in Neath.
The Wales’ coach is very glad with the decision and said, "I'm delighted that Lee will lead us into this year's Four Nations tournament. He was our captain last year and was a strong leader. There was no reason whatsoever why he wasn't going to retain his
captaincy. Lee is a fantastic servant for Wales. He is our most experienced squad member, has become a great leader for our nation and has become a good role model for younger members of our squad."
Briers has been brilliant in his on-field skills which is the reason why his retention for the same capacity has not been frowned upon. His leadership qualities are extraordinary and his return to lead his national side after a two-year break led the Welsh
side to celebrate their European Cup last year.
With the European Cup under their belt Wales had qualified for their Four Nations this year. Until now, Briers has amassed a total of 20 caps equalling Harris. However, with Saturday’s night’s match he will be just 5 caps behind Jim Sullivan, who takes up
the second spot in the listing of all time highest caps earned.
He is also third within his country’s scoring list, with nine tries, 28 goals and six drop goals to his credit and he is only short of 32 points to surpass Sullivan’s second place within the scoring list.
This warm-up game will prepare Harris’ squad to test run the best of their abilities, against Ireland, which will definitely grant his side in brushing away the discrepancies from their game plan as they will incorporate their successful game strategies
in bigger games lined up at the tail end of October.
Wales is scheduled to clash against England in Leigh Sports Village on Saturday, which will be the inaugural fixture of the Four Nations.
