Iestyn Harris of Wales confirms Briers Lee's return - Rugby news
While speaking with reporters on Monday, October 24, Wales coach, Iestyn Harris, shared the news of Lee Briers return after he sat out last weekend because of a knee injury. The player watched from the side lines as Wales celebrated a 30-6 win against Ireland.
Wales topped the charts before it was expected of them and their coach is striving for the ultimate best from his players when they meet Australia, England and New Zealand in the Four Nations Campaign.
While talking about his side’s future plans for the upcoming clash against England in Leigh Sports Village on Saturday, the coach insisted his side will give an exemplary performance which will be witnessed by all as the Four Nations will unfold.
Speaking about his side’s form, Harris also mentioned that his side’s captain, who was not seen playing on the field lately because of the knee injury, will make his come back to take over his role for the Welsh pack.
The Welsh coach stated, "Obviously Lee's had a tough season and his body has been a little bit tired. I thought it was important for him to have some down time before he came in with the squad. He only had four days training with the full squad and he needed
bit of physical work before he had a game."
While comparing his side’s unexpected performance which has now placed more pressure on Wales to perform well against otherwise stronger sides, Briers went on and added, "We are nowhere near the standard of Australia, New Zealand and England, we know that.
There are some young boys in our squad who have not been playing the game that long. But we are here to shock a few, we are here to compete."
It was further clarified by the skipper that there is no way that his team would be undermined by the others in the contest. Briers also shared that the team will feel the loss of Gareth Thomas in future games after the player had confirmed his retirement.
