Iestyn Harris targets Rugby League World Cup 2013
Wales’ national Rugby League coach, Iestyn Harris, defined his future plans while talking to the media reporters on Friday, October 28, and said he is eyeing success at the Rugby League World Cup 2013.
The coach further said that his side is brimming with potential which is on the road of constant improvement and expects to end up in a much better position when they will co-host the next World Cup in 2013 with England.
Wales is currently considered the weakest amongst the other three in sides in contention for Gillette Four Nations Series because they have returned to the international platform after a long break.
They are not considered much of a threat by the remaining teams but Adrian Morley of the English side is insisting that the Welsh side should not be taken lightly because their squad features, Lee Briers, who has been tagged by Morley as a real threat to
English defence.
Harris is well aware of his side’s strengths and has big plans for the next World Cup 2013.
He stressed that Wales will toughen up while playing against England, New Zealand and Australia over the next three Saturdays.
While mentioning that his side is currently tagged as outsiders, the Wales coach said, "Our long-term goal is the World Cup in 2013 and we want to go into that competition as a team that certainly can achieve a World Cup final. To do that you have got to
be used to playing at this elite level. This will help us greatly to achieve our long-term goals. We have got to be ready to play at this level and some of these players are doing it for the first time. It will certainly be good for Wales rugby league and
something we are looking forward to."
The coach had recently seen his former Super League defunct club, Crusaders, lose their berth in the Super League until 2015.The news of Crusader’s withdrawal had shocked fans and players alike who were hoping to play the upcoming seasons.
