Title asks all...

I'm talking about Facebook here.

Microsoft purchased 1.6 percent for 246 million dollars.

I'm just wondering why they would do that... That must mean they value Facebook at some billions and billions of dollars.

So how much would they have paid if they bought 100 percent of Facebook at the rate they paid for just 1.6 percent?

  1. "246 million is 1.6 percent of what" translates to

    246 million = 0.016 * x

    so 246 / 0.016 = 15,375

Remember this is in millions though, so the answer is fifteen billion, three hundred seventy-five million:

    15,375,000,000

  2. 246million divided by .016, or $15,375,000,000
