My apartment burned on 1/11/07. A local church gave me a used washer that had been donated to them; however, there was no drier. Since then I have had to rely on a laundry line to dry my clothes. Now that I have realized over the course of these 3 months that my power bill is so much lower, I am considering not even buying a dryer. I started to research line-drying laundry & apparently in some countries this is mandatory. I then discovered that a friend of mine who lives in Australia has never even owned a dryer (I always just assumed everyone used clothes dryers) Then it occured to me if 100% of the popluation agreed to Line-Dry thier clothes for just the warmer months of the year... then wouldn't the earth be much better for it? Is this idea perhaps one small way to help prevent Global Warming? And... I have been pleasantly surprised (having never Line-Dried before) that my clothes require less if any ironing. My linen napkins actually look as if they have been ironed.

  1. Absolutely! Imagine the amount of emissions that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere! Kudos to you for doing your part!

  2. Yes..I think it would help the enviorment because you use natural wind and heat to dry them. You also are saving energy because you don't have to plug the wind and sun into anything! LOL! anyway, Yes I think if 100% of the people agreed to do this it would help the enviorment! Good luck!

  3. I  think that if everyone used a laundry line instead of a dryer we would be helping our planet by lowering the usage of energy.

Even if it was during winter, people could have a laundry line in their garage and eventually  the clothes would get dry. But especially in summer, people should consider not using the dryer since the sun works just as well.

  4. helps make our planet cooler and saves power consumption

  5. You're right. If everyone used a laudry line instead of a dryer, that would make a big difference. You are helping the Earth and helping solve the problem of climate change.

I used to live in France. A lot of people do not own a dryer. They use a laundry line. In the colder months, they hang the clothes to dry indoors. If you have a rarely used room or an attic or extra space somewhere, that would be a good idea.
