  1. 4x= 7/9

    x= 7/36 ---Divide both sides by 4.

  2. 4x = 7 / 9

    you need to get rid of the 4 on the left side so that x is by itself. to do that you divide both sides by four so you get:

    4x/4 = 7/ (9*4)

    the two fours on the left side cancel each other out so it is reduced to

    x = 7/(9*4)

    and just multiply it out

    x = 7/36

    and it cannot be reduced any further. there is your answer =)

  3. 4x=7/9

    a*b=c

    b=c/a

    a=4, b=x, c=7/9

    x= =7/9:4 or 7/9*1/4 = 7/36

  4. 4x = 7/9

    Divide each side by 4:

    x = 7/36

    ( . 1 . . . . 7 . . . . . 7

    . ---- . x . ---- . = . ----

    . .4 . . . . .9 . . . . .36)
