  1. 1. They might be closed on public holidays.

    2. It might be hard to find a door model/building model that doesn't have a lock installed.

    3. If the place is held-up, they can lock the doors until the police arrive.

    4. If the manager leaves, they could lock the door.

    5. If they need renovation done, they could look the door.

    6. Etc.?


  2. well, sometime they have to leave the place for a few minutes or maybe they're doing some cleaning inside and they don't want any customers in and lots of other reasons...

  7. In Auburn CA there is a Denny's on I-80 and Forresthill rd that didn't have locks on the doors till they had a big power outage and couldn't serve any food.

  10. It is, quite simple, obeying the law. All businesses must have

    locks on there doors.

  11. So if everyone is sick and no one can work they can lock the door.

    So if they decide to close forever they can lock the door and no one can take up residency in the building.

  13. Ever tried to buy a door that DOESN'T have a lock?  I 'd guess they use an industry standard door, which in other places would need to lock.

    Why not call it a 24-7?

    (These shops were originally open 7am to 11pm hence the name.)

  17. to lock up AFTER they get robbed. also when only one clerk is on, they will occasionally lock up to stock the cooler or take out garbage and dip the tanks if they sell gas.

  18. SO that when it gets robbed , they can lock the door till the police get there.

  19. There are locks for a few reasons...

    1) Required to meet city codes

    2) in CA (unsure if the same everywhere) they lock the door at 2am and put a freeze on beer sales.

    3) In case there is ever an emergency (see #1) and need to lock up.
