If another attack like 9/11 happened again.

Do you think you would be as traumatized?

Do you think you would be desensitized (because we have been through it before)?

This scenario crossed my mind. I was wonder how others would feel?

  1. I would be angry. I don't think I would be traumatized.

  2. I feel that the American public and I would not act as aversely as the first time. In a sense, we have desensitized to being attacked on our soil - that is not to say that we would not be affected, however.

  3. No, the world would, in general, not be desensitized. It has seen thousand of events which were equally as horrible in different ways and on different scales; the Holocaust, the Apartheid genocide, the race riots et cetera.

It doesn't make one desensitized, I don't believe.

A smaller scale personal example of my own is when my father died in 1993. It was horrifying and I grieved tremendously as a result, but then in 1995 cancer claimed my brother's life and it was just as painful for me and my family.

I'm not looking for grief or sympathy because those two events are in the past, I'm just aiming to give some sort of small-scale comparison, and also, in no way trying to compare my grief to that of the individuals, families, communities and so on who were affected by 9/11.

  4. Pissed that the government did not stop it despite all the extra security measures they are  supposedly taking

  5. i know i would probably be more traumatized, because i would feel that after one devastating attack we didn't do Everything we could have done to prevent another.

  6. unfortunately its not a matter of if it happens again but when don't forget about the terrible things that have happen before oklahoma city bombing the olympic bombing the uni bomber the decades of fear the black community suffered the oppression of women these too were terrorist acts

desensitization is not a bad thing it helps us move beyond the anger
