  1. The rules are vague. They state that the table is open after a break. If you make a ball on that break, then you get to shoot again to choose your group. What it doesn't mention is whether you have to select the group you make on the first shot after the break. Common convention is that your group is that which you make, but the rules are not clear here.

For instance, after the break where I make at least one ball, I call a solid ball which I make. Then, I CHOOSE the striped balls because I have made a legal shot. Nowhere in the rules does it state that the ball you make after the break is the group you must choose.

  2. It sounds like you're describing a break shot; pocketing (or potting) a stripe and a solid.

If this is your question -- the table would remain "open" until the next shot on either a solid or a striped ball, is called and pocketed (potted).

If you pot or pocket a solid and a stripe on the break, but the balls roll and fall in the pockets at a different speed ---it has no bearing on the fact that you pocketed (potted) 1 ball of each suit. The table remains open until you call and make your next shot.

If I have misinterpreted your question, please give more details in order to help you resolve your question.

    Good luck.

  3. If you make a striped and a solid ball on the break the table is still open.  On your next shot you can choose to hit either solid or stripes.  Whichever one you make decides what you are.

    P.S. Go back to school.

  4. I never want to discourage anyone from playing the game, but I think you may be better off in the long run by spending a little more time at school.

  5. If off the break its your choice still open

Remember I just give World standard rules not Bar Room BS
