  1. The components must be equal and opposite, or zero.

    For example, the sum of <-2, 5> and <2, -5> would be zero -- as would the sum of <0, 0> and <0, 0>.


  2. All components cancel.

    The component vector sum is zero.

    example:

    x-components: A<--------   -------->B  = zero

    same for y-components
