Question:

If Adam was created first, why do men have nipples?

I hate to go and bring up biology, but every human life begins as a proto-female. Unless a certain factor (muellerian inhibiting substance) suppresses the development of a female reproductive system at 8 weeks gestation and testosterone masculinizes what remains you get a girl.

If Eve and sexual reproduction were created as an afterthought to keep Adam company, why did God create man with so many vestigial girly bits?

  1. Because god used evolution to create humans, and evolution is tricky buisness.

  2. You have a difficult question!  Can you answer it please

  3. Because he has a weird sense of humor like that. Tailbones are also essentially useless, yet we still have those.

Just kidding, I know why we have them :P

  4. What I want to know is how come he created a talking snake?

  5. Tailbones aren't useless--without them you wouldn't have any balance and you would fall on your face (because you would be too front-heavy).

  6. God doesn't do anything as an afterthought.

    He is omniscient.

  7. God knew that someday men would want pierced nipples and he wanted them to have a place to put their pretty jewelry.

  8. It allows better chance of survival.

The gender of a human embryo is determined at the time the egg is fertilized. However, the mammary papillae (nipples) remain identical in both sexes until hormones affect a child on reaching puberty.

This allows the embryo to work on one less process at a time when large numbers of changes are already taking place, thus lowering the chances of a defect.

  9. Because all babies begin life in the womb as females. If no Y chromosome is present, then the baby will be female. If the Y chromosome is present, then the baby will be male.

  10. Because the whole d**n story about Adam and Eve is made up. Not a word of it is true.

  11. Good question Mo.

Let's see the christians squirm their way out of this one

  12. Do you think God can create a man and not create him with nipples?  Also, how do you know Adam had nipples?  You are just assuming that he did.

  13. r u a hater of God? ru a "thinker"? or are you a atheist? bc.......someone told me all thinking men are atheist and YEAH women too

  14. because adam was just a prototype, eve was the final product

some features of the final product weren't complete at the time the prototype was made... others were found to be a bad idea and were completely replaced in the final product

  15. Afterthought? Afterthought? You can bet your girl bits, God didn't want just one human being on this earth. Are you some kind of proto-female or something?

  16. There is no reason to consider Eve an afterthought.

As respects the supposed 'girly bits', may I refer you to Isaiah 29:16.

  17. That's pretty absurd to call every child a "proto-female"; fact is you could use that definition on any underdeveloped thing but it wouldn't prove anything about its gender. Are we to say that all cells are therefore proto-female because they are not yet male and therefore female? It isn't an applicable definition at that stage of development, and thus it is actually more correct to say that it is man's seed if it is at a stage where its gender can not yet be determined, but to call it female at that stage is just plain silly.

Reply: You can be "scientific", and I'll be correct, suits me fine.

  18. God gave man nipples for the same reason he gave both Adam and Eve belly buttons...so he wouldn't look funny in a bathing suit...besides...isn't part of sexual pleasure for both men and women to have thier nipples licked?

Perhaps the fundamentalist answer (I'm Christian but not a fundy) is so Adam wouldn't look funny to his kids.

  19. Because he couldn't bend down far enough to l**k anything else.
