If America is a mean nation, then why didn't we nuke all of Japan?

Instead of bombing only two cities. If we where really racist jerks, then we could have nuked the whole nation into pieces if we really wanted too.

  1. We only had two bombs.

We weren't going to tell THEM that.

We hit their centers of War Machinery production factories. A good strategic move.

We had no idea what the radiation damage would be. That information was not available and it wasn't until YEARS of testing later the world got some idea how bad those effects could be.

Notice though, we did NOT act as an IMPERIALIST Nation. We stole NO land nor did we enslave ANY people after winning. In both Japan and Germany we rebuilt their nations and aided in establishing sound governments.

ALL charges that we are an evil Imperialist Nation are utterly false and can not be substantiated! Those saying otherwise are LIARS!

  2. I suppose that's a valid point, but could you provide some additional information as to why you are posting this?

  3. It's not widely known, but the scientists who developed the A-bomb petitioned the U.S. government to do a demonstration for Japan to witness first, before actually hitting them with it, so that they could see what they were up against and make the decision or not, to surrender.

    That petition went unheeded.

  4. Because at the time, you only had two bombs...question is, why didn't you bomb a relatively unpopulated area to show the damage that could be done.

  5. You seem pretty cavalier about thousands of people dying.. bombing "only two cities" killed THOUSANDS of people. I don't know what grade you made it to, but you should know that prior to the Nagasaki and Hiroshima bombings the US firebombed Japanese cities such as Tokyo killing thousands more. these air raids weren't targeting military bases they were targeting civilians. Of course you'll probably find some pathetic way of justifying that too.
