First of all the first answer from Irish_  is total garbage.     Americans are not wasteful.   We are the biggest recyclers in the world and we clean up our messes.  Wanna see waste go to a third world country and you will see waste you will even get some on your shoes.   It is not from American greed it is from the corrupt governments who run them and have accounts in Switzerland and steal money from the UN.   Russia and China are the biggest polluters and waste dumpers in the world.   Small minds bash on America because they believe what their leftist teachers say in the class room.

Conservative Christians give more than liberals in both time and money.

Capitalsim and greed.  Unless a country has some sort of value (i.e., strategic position, resources, etc..) that can be exploited to the benefit of the United States, then the US Government could care less about hardships, dictators or any difficulties experienced.

United States dominance is evident even in your question.  Instead of saying the United States, or the United States of America, you automatically called us (and yourself presumably) Americans.  Latin Americans, North Americans, South Americans, the term American can mean numerous individuals.  But we US Citizens automatically presume it means us.  I know, a simple observation, but a well known truth.  Mexicans are Americans, as are Ecuadorians, Brazilians and any other inhabitant of S. America, Latin America and/or North America (Canadians included).

It's not so much as being wasteful on purpose...  We do help other countries out all the time...  you just might not hear about it.  

It's not like if the roles were reversed these poor countries would be bending over backwards to help us. or to not be wasteful...

We do help out other countries.  Maybe you don't know about it, but America is the most charitable country there is.

We do help other countries but it is mostly with money and not man power so it does not get noticed as much. I think greed plays a part in us not giving as much, you also have the people who feel as if we need to help our own first before we help others
