If Beckett is done for the season? Can the Red Sox win?

He has numbness in his hand. Party line is that it is from sleeping wrong. I've done that, but recovery is pretty quick. I am afraid that there might be a circulatory problem, even though they have ruled out am aneurysm .

I don't think he's done for the season. He'll recover quickly and get back together after his horrible start last outing.

I am getting a bit nervous about Beckett. They are saying that it is from sleeping wrong but, as you say, that should have passed by now.  If he is done, I think the Sox will have a hard time making it into the post season.  I know his numbers have not been great but, he is a clutch pitcher and the Sox really need him.  With Wakefield out too I don't know what they will do.  Hopefully the others can carry the team for a bit of time.  I know Lester and Matsuzaka are great but, we still need 3 more starters...It does sound like a circulatory problem as you say but, lets just hope and pray that it is not that.

They'll make it They got Lester, Bucholz, Dice K, and a good Bullpen with Okihema and Papelbon, They can win games still, The Sox will be fine.

I don't think that beckett is done for the season and even if he was, he is no longer the ace of the sox rotation, he is probably the 3rd best starter behind Jon Lester and Daiskue Matsuzaka so i think the redsox can still win but without Beckett they wont make it far in the playoffs

I really hope he's not done for the year. I pull for the Sox all the time!

However, their chances of winning in general take a hit of course if he's on the DL. Their chances of winning the division or the WS would really be low in my opinion because most World Champs have a strong 5 man SP staff. Here's sending the healing vibe to Beckett...get well soon, kid!

The red Sox will be fine even if Beckett is done for the season. They have alot of talent on that team.

Look, I'll make this plain and simple.  The Red Sox will move down to third place and the Yankees will go up to second.  The Bombers will make the Wild Card.

I doubt Beckett is done. And I hope it's not an aneurysm. (I may hate the Red Sox, but I don't wish injury on a rival team - ever.)

That said, if he's gone or not up to par, the Red Sox may not be able to do much in October, assuming they get there. Their lineup is capable, but you can't afford to lose your top dog when the season's at its most crucial point.

I really don't know whats going on with Beckett at this point. There have been reports of numbness and management is being precausious with him right now (which is smart). He may have an injury, maybe not. But at any rate, I gotta think my Red Sox will be ok if he hits the DL. Think about these facts:

1. Injuries have been happening to us all season. Ortiz, Lowell, Schilling, Bucholtz, Drew, Wakefield, and many others yet we are still winning.

2. We traded away our best hitter in Manny Ramirez and we are still winning games.

3. We are near the top of the list in farm system and we have one of the deepest teams in the league.

Overall, we certainly can ill-afford to lose Beckett, but let's not forget that he isn't even our best pitcher right now. We still have Dice-k and Lester who are winning a boat load of games for us.

I am a sox fan, but I'm pretty sure the numbness is not much of an excuse, since he says it like 3 days after his start.. But I think he will put it together in the playoffs

I think that Beckett will be back & Red Sox should be just fine, just hope they miss the play offs though
