If Ben Cousins does return to the AFL, which club will he play for?

I know there is only a chance that he will play at the top level again, but if he does, what jumper will he be wearing?

I personally wouldn't want to see him play for the Pies, and I'm a Collingwood supporter. He's thirty years old, and won't be at his best.

Your thoughts?

  1. It will be either Collingwood (he has very close ties with Malthouse) or the Dockers also close ties with WA.

The Eagles players, coach and fans would take him back in a heartbeat but the board wouldn't.

Rogue I said close ties with Malthouse not Colllingwood he recruited him and was his first AFL coach  and coached him in 2 GFs.

  2. I have a feeling that both carlton and the crows said that they would consider helping him out if he ever got back on his feet. that was early last year so Im not sure if it still holds true but yea, we'll hafta wait and see eh?

  3. I don't think any club will pick him up if he wants to make a comeback.

If he does I hope Collingwood take him on - because he will surely stuff up again & make the club & its administrators look bigger fools than they already are.

  4. dingo whoop whoop, he doesn't deserve to be in the AFL.

  5. its his 30th in 5 days on monday!!

    Eagles... i can only hope!!!

if he does though... yeah collingwood will get him:(

still be wearing my #9 jumper proud!!

btw you dont deseve him  =P but serisously you dont!!

he has until monday to nominate himself in the VFL if not he will be staying with freo sharks.

  6. he is a tosser so maybe uumm Adelaide!!!

  7. Collingwood.

  8. Cousins wont play in the AFL again...no chance.

Clubs are much much smarter and would rather draft a rookie and build them up into a great player than draft a 'has-been' champion.  Its not a good investment.

I hope Carlton pick him up though...they seem to love all the limelight .. :PP

  9. he is playing for a victorian side if he plays

and umm since carlton dont want him it wil be a top club in need of a midfirlder - by top club i mean rich!!

umm i reakon essendon desperately need a midfielder and umm they wanted kerr but he's not moving so maybe essendon if not richmond and collingwood are a chance

  10. im from koroit in victoria, and in this league theres a team called port fairy where old unwanted afl players go. Ronnie Burns, Brad Sholl, and Ashley Sampi have all played there in the last 3 years, and i think cousins will go there next year.

  11. I think he'll go to the Pies. Sorry. But he's got close ties with them so if does play at AFL level again I can see him going over to Collingwood. I wouldn't mind him at the doggies though but the doggies have an elite midfield already.

    GO THE DOGGIES!

  12. Maybe harsh but I wouldn't think that any club would want him as the chance of him stuffing up again is too high, he is too old and the inevitable media frenzy that would accompany his return would be too disruptive to the team unit. Brilliant player but I think his days as an AFL player are over just like any other player that suffers from a recurring illness or injury. I don't think many teams would be lining up to get Rocca next year.

  13. Collingwood or Essendon would want him. Being an Essendon supporter i'm not sure if i would want him playing for us, because he only has another two or three years left, and his drug history. Put that aside and he's still a great footballer.

  14. i would think he would go to collingwood or freo he doesnt fit any other teams

  15. The youth policy is what most clubs have adopted, if he did he play AFL again he would probably get a 1 year deal. Personally I wouldn't want him at Hawthorn as we have a good young list, and would rather see the hawks draft young players rather than older players with a drug related past.

If he get backs to decent form, then I'm sure a lot of clubs would look to signing him to 1 year deal. The only club that wouls draft him would be a clubs that lacks that experience in the midfield.

  16. You know, i find these questions and answers quite interesting. Many, many afl players have broken the law at times, some more than once and yet nothing! Just because Ben's problem stems from an illegal substance, let's string him up! If anyone out there thinks that legal drugs - ie alcohol - have a less damaging effect on society than the illegal variety, then they need to have a little rethink i feel. I am not saying that what he did was acceptable on any level, but what he did is not a hanging offence in this country!

Well, now I have had my little rant and rave I will answer the question! Maybe one of the new franchises could pick him up so he could help them get established for a couple of years before he retires??
