  1. Dude weed is legal need I say more.  Oh yeah their beer sucks

  2. Maternity leave -- 9 months with apx 40% matching salary from the gov, plus optional paternity leave;

    However, unlike the US, a lot of power is decentralized in Canada to the provinces. Employment law is often a provincial issue.

    Not sure about the US, but Employment Insurance covers most or all workers ... if you lose your job and it's not really your fault, you also get money and skills training for about 8-10 months.

    Obviously, all income taxes are higher, but you never pay a cent for health care (actually, in Ontario, there is a health surcharge of a few bucks a paycheque right now for all), other than for drugs or cosmetic surgery. ie. if you got cancer and it took 3 years to cure it, you'd generally have to pay zero to achieve that ... although you'd have to be a resident of the country and not a visitor.

    zed not zee. colour not color. CMHC not fannymae (actually, I have no idea what fannymae does, but CMHC is a quasi-governmental agency that provides homebuyer's insurance for homebuyers with less than 25% down; and they do more stuff too.)
